Privacy for MOSION and MOSION Studio.
This Privacy Policy explains how MOSION handles personal information across the public MOSION website, the MOSION waitlist flow, the MOSION Studio landing page, the Studio partner application flow, and the Studio web app served on the Studio host.
- This page applies to mosion.app and studio.mosion.app.
- It covers information you submit directly, account and partner data created through use of the service, and limited browser storage used to operate the site experience.
- The cookies and browser storage described here are first-party items used for product operation, sign-in continuity, and notice state. They are not used here for third-party cross-site advertising tracking.
What this page covers
This policy covers personal information processed through the public MOSION marketing site, the public waitlist, the MOSION Studio landing page, the Studio application form, and the Studio web app when it is accessed through the Studio host.
It does not replace separate commercial, partner, onboarding, or platform terms that may apply once a filmmaker, distributor, rights holder, or partner is approved for additional Studio access.
Information we collect
The information collected depends on how you interact with MOSION. Some information is submitted directly by you, some is created through account use, and some technical information may be processed automatically as part of operating, securing, and improving the service.
On the public MOSION site, you may submit your email address to join the waitlist or request updates about launch access, beta access, or product announcements tied to the MOSION service.
When you apply for MOSION Studio access, you may provide your first name, last name, email address, website or portfolio URL, company, slate, or lead-title information, applicant type, rights status, release stage, territory focus, trailer or screener URL, and any submission summary or supporting context you choose to include.
When you sign in to the Studio web app, request a password reset, restore a session, or manage your profile, we may process your email address, password or password-reset inputs, authentication status, provider information, session-related account details, and profile data such as first name, last name, producer or studio name, title, phone number, website, and studio biography.
We may also process information connected to your organisation, studio, distribution relationship, or rights-holder relationship where that is needed to review access, administer partner accounts, or operate Studio workflows.
Hosting, infrastructure, and security systems may process technical information such as browser or device details, IP-related request data, timestamps, page requests, error events, and session-validation or abuse-prevention data associated with use of the site.
How we use information
- To operate, deliver, and improve the public MOSION site and the MOSION Studio experience.
- To manage the public waitlist and send launch, beta, or service-related updates connected to your request.
- To review Studio applications and determine whether a filmmaker, distributor, or rights holder is a fit for the Studio platform.
- To create, authenticate, maintain, and secure Studio accounts and sessions.
- To provide partner tools, profile features, and account-management functionality inside the Studio web app.
- To communicate about applications, approvals, onboarding, sign-in, password resets, support issues, and policy or product changes.
- To monitor, troubleshoot, secure, and maintain the reliability of the site and the Studio web app.
- To protect MOSION, our users, and our partners against abuse, fraud, unauthorised access, or legal claims.
- To comply with applicable legal, contractual, regulatory, and enforcement obligations.
Legal bases and equivalent grounds for processing
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, MOSION may rely on one or more of the following depending on context: taking steps at your request before entering into a relationship, performing a contract or service relationship, complying with legal obligations, pursuing legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, or consent where a specific activity is presented on that basis.
If local law gives you additional rights tied to a particular lawful basis, those rights may be available depending on your location and the nature of the processing involved.
Cookies and browser storage currently in use
MOSION uses limited first-party cookies and browser storage to support notice frequency control, returning-user routing, and Studio sign-in continuity on the same browser. The specific items currently in use include the following.
Cookie/local storage: mosion_prototype_notice_seen_v1
Used to remember that the public site preview notice has already been shown on that browser, so the same notice is not repeated unnecessarily. The public privacy page is intentionally excluded from that notice.
Type: first-party cookie plus local-storage fallback. Retention: up to 12 months. Purpose: notice frequency control.
Cookie: studio_known_user
Set after a Studio sign-in has been restored or completed successfully. It can be used to remember that this browser has signed in before, so Studio can recognise a returning browser without storing full account data in the landing page itself.
Type: first-party cookie. Retention: up to 12 months. Purpose: returning-browser recognition for Studio sign-in convenience.
Cookie/local storage: mosion_studio_cookie_notice_seen_v1
Used only on the Studio landing page to remember that you dismissed the Studio cookie information banner, so the same message is not shown repeatedly after you have already seen it.
Type: first-party cookie plus local-storage fallback. Retention: up to 12 months. Purpose: banner dismissal state.
Local storage: mosion_auth_session_v1
Used by the Studio web app after sign-in to keep the active Studio session on the current browser. Clearing browser storage or signing out removes that remembered session.
Type: local storage. Retention: until sign-out or storage is cleared. Purpose: session continuity on this device.
How information may be shared
We may share personal information with service providers and infrastructure partners that help us host, secure, deliver, support, or maintain MOSION and MOSION Studio. Depending on the service involved, this may include providers supporting hosting, application delivery, authentication, email delivery, storage, monitoring, and security operations.
We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce agreements, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse or security incidents, or support a financing, restructuring, merger, acquisition, or asset transfer involving the service.
Retention and user control
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including waitlist operations, application review, account administration, service delivery, security, dispute management, record-keeping, and legal or compliance obligations.
- Public waitlist records may be retained for launch communications, service administration, and related operational needs.
- Studio application records may be retained for review, relationship management, support, and compliance purposes.
- Account and profile information may be retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period after closure where needed for support, security, or legal obligations.
- Cookies and local-storage entries may remain in the browser for the periods stated in the storage section above, unless removed earlier by sign-out or browser controls.
International transfers
MOSION and the providers that support it may process information in more than one country. When information is transferred across borders, we aim to use reasonable contractual, organisational, and technical safeguards appropriate to the service and transfer involved.
Security
We use technical, administrative, and organisational measures designed to protect personal information and account access. No online service, storage environment, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so users should also take reasonable care with their own credentials and devices.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.
- You can update some Studio profile information directly inside the Studio web app.
- You can clear browser cookies and local storage using your browser or device controls.
- You can ask us to review privacy-related questions or requests tied to your MOSION or Studio information.
- You may also have the right to complain to a relevant privacy or data protection regulator in your jurisdiction.
Children's privacy
MOSION Studio is intended for professional partner use and is not designed for children. The public MOSION site is also not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate authorisation. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to the service inappropriately, contact us so the situation can be reviewed.
If cookies are blocked
The public site and the Studio landing page can still load if cookies are blocked, but some convenience behaviour may stop working. In particular, notice dismissal state may not be remembered, and returning Studio users may stay on the landing page instead of being sent straight to sign in.
In practical terms, disabling cookies does not stop the public pages from loading. It mainly removes the browser memory layer that helps MOSION avoid repeating notices and helps Studio recognise a returning browser for faster sign-in routing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in product features, data practices, legal requirements, or operational needs. When we do, we may update the effective date on this page and publish the revised version here.
Terms and related documents
Public consumer terms and Studio partner terms may be provided separately depending on the product and the stage of your relationship with MOSION. If you need partner terms before Studio onboarding is finalised, contact partners@mosion.app.
