A ₦15.6 billion market. 122 cinemas. 230 million people. The infrastructure was always missing - until now.
The Story
"African cinema is producing world-class content. The infrastructure to distribute it was never built."
Nigeria's box office grossed ₦15.6 billion in 2025 - a record year, with Nollywood claiming more than half the market for the first time in history. The demand for African cinema is real, growing, and impossible to ignore.
But that entire ₦15.6 billion passed through just 122 cinemas, almost all in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. A filmmaker in Enugu premieres nationally - and reaches 1.2% of the country. A viewer in Ilorin wants to watch opening weekend - and has no option.
MOSION is the answer to that gap. Not a streaming service. Not a subscription platform. A mobile cinema - pay-per-view, premiere-first, built for the device already in 230 million pockets. The model is cinema's own model. The delivery is the infrastructure cinema never had.
And for filmmakers, MOSION Studio is being built to provide something traditional distribution has always withheld: full financial visibility. Approved partners will manage releases, review title performance, and handle payouts through one controlled workflow.
The Vision
A cinema only works where a building exists. MOSION doesn't need one. Approved filmmakers, distributors, and rights holders can premiere nationally. Any viewer - regardless of city or commute - can attend opening weekend.
Filmmakers have been the last to know what their own films earned. MOSION Studio is designed to give approved partners a dedicated reporting dashboard, payout controls, and the financial clarity the industry has always withheld.
MOSION doesn't reinvent cinema economics. It extends them. The same 60/40 revenue splits. The same premiere window. The same quality standard. Just delivered to where Africa actually watches.
Currently Building
MOSION is currently built and led by its founder. We are actively looking to bring on a business-focused co-founder or key hire in filmmaker partnerships and sales as part of our seed raise.
If you are a filmmaker, distributor, investor, or operator who believes in what we're building - we'd like to talk.
